Eye Exams

We provide comprehensive eye exams for every stage of life.

Adults & Seniors

As we age, our risk for certain eye diseases increase. Not only is it imprtant to keep your glasses and contact prescription current, but also to check for any early signs of eye diseases.

Pediactrics

Eye problems in children can interfere with their ability to perform in school and possibly the development of clear vision. The eye doctors at Center Valley Eye Care will determine if they need glasses, as well as checking for eye muscle problems or other eye health issues.

Diabetic

Yearly screening eye exams are important to look for early changes to the blood vessels in the eye. Elevated blood sugar, over time, weakens the blood vessels and causes them to leak fluid into the retina. If these early changes are found, working with your primary care doctor for better control can reduce the risk of vision loss.

Eye Disease Management

Our doctors are trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular diseases.

Glaucoma

The most common type of glaucoma has no symptoms until a large amount of vision is lost. There is no cure for glaucoma, but blindness can often be prevented with early diagnosis and treatment. If you are experiencing eye pain with nausea and changes to your vision, you need to be seen immediately. If we are not available, go to the emergency room. These symptoms can be signs of a narrow angle glaucoma attack, which is an ocular emergency.

Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an acquired eye disorder affecting the macula. The macula provides clear, sharp vision for reading, driving, recognizing faces, etc. Vision loss may be the first symptom, which is why regular eye exams are important to check for early signs of AMD.

Cataracts

A cataract is a gradual clouding of the lens inside the eye. Cataracts can cause prescription changes and blurred vision. As your eye doctor, we will help you decide when symptoms warrant a consult with the cataract surgeon. Most of the time cataracts develop slowly over many years and can be monitored.

Dry Eye

Dry eye disease is chronic and usually progressive. Symptoms include redness, burning, stinging, and sometimes watery eyes. Dry eye may not be competely curable but our optometrists can help you manage and improve your eye comfort, resulting in fewer dry eye symptoms.

Ocular Emergencies & Urgencies

Center Valley Eye Care provides diagnosis and treatment for ocular emergencies, including red eye, foreign object, eye infection, sudden change of loss of vision, and sudden onset of floaters or flashes.

Contact Lenses

We provide safe and effective vision correction, prescribed by a Doctor of Optometry.

Soft Contacts

The majority of people with contact lenses use soft contacts. These lenses correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. There are also multifocal soft contact lenses that allow the wearer to see both near and far.

Gas Permeable Contacts

Gas Permeable contact lenses are a rigid lens that floats on the tears. For some people they offer sharper vision than soft contacts. These lenses are extremely durable. They can break, but do not tear easily like soft lenses.

Hybrid Contacts

Hybrid contacts are lenses that have a rigid gas permeable central zone surrounded by a soft lens “skirt”. These lenses provide the sharp vision of a gas permeable lens with the comfort of a soft lens. These specialty lenses are great for people who have high astigmatism or keratoconus, a condition where the front surface of the eye thins and buldges forward. The irregular front surface can cause blurry vision that is not fully correctable with glasses or soft contacts.

Scleral Contacts

A scleral lens is a large contact lens that rests on the sclera (white of the eye) and creates a tear “vault” over the entire front surface. Most commonly these lenses are used for dry eye, since the vault allows the front surface to remain hydrated, and keratoconus, which results in a highly irregular front surface causing blurry vision even in glasses and traditional contacts.

Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology is a corneal reshaping process. Specially designed gas permeable lenses are worn at night to temporarily reshape the cornea, resulting in clear vision without correction the next day. It is often compared to a dental retainer (for your eyes!)
